There was a time in my life when I was making all the wrong turns. Although I was raised around faith, I eventually strayed from the foundation I knew. I wanted to live life on my own terms, and I found myself involved in stripping, prostitution, and drug dealing. I pursued a lifestyle that I believed would bring me happiness, success, and fulfillment. The money, cars, and attention became distractions from what was truly missing in my life. I was searching for something the world could never give me. But even in the midst of my wrong choices, God never stopped calling me. I heard His voice, but I ignored Him. I knew there was a different way for my life, yet I continued down paths that took me further away from Him. Through some of my darkest moments, God continued to show me His grace and mercy. He protected me, kept me alive, and reminded me that my life had a greater purpose. Eventually, I began to see the plans God had for me. I realized that my past did not have to define my future. I had made mistakes, but I was not beyond redemption. God began transforming my life, one piece at a time. He took the broken places, the pain, the shame, and the wrong turns, and began refining them into something beautiful. Today, I am Minister Lena, an author, Certified Christian Life Coach, nurse, and founder/co-founder of Sisters With A Voice. I use my testimony to encourage women who feel ashamed of their past or believe they have gone too far to be restored. My life is a reminder that God can reach you in your darkest place, redirect your steps, and lead you into a purpose greater than anything you could have imagined. I am not proud of every road I traveled, but I am grateful for the God who never abandoned me along the way. I am living proof that your wrong turns do not have to be your final destination.
